Seacrest Country Day Wins Battle With Lely
Seacrest Country Day broke a tie score with a run in the fifth and another in the sixth to beat Lely 4-1 in a non-district matchup Tuesday. The Stingrays (12-8-1) took the lead for good in the fifth. Tyler Lopes walked and Matt Hurley hit a line-drive single to left. Chavez followed with a single to score Lopes.
Seacrest plated two more the next inning. After Torosian flied out to open the inning, Chavez doubled to left before Hancock singled up the middle. A balk allowed Chavez to score, and then DiNorcia singled to bring in pinch-runner David Nassif.
Torosian pitched a three-hitter, striking out six and walking three to get the win for the Stingrays, who will take on Community School in a non-district matchup Thursday.
The two sides both scored early on to take a 1-1 tie into the fifth. Travis Torosian singled to center but then was erased at second when Erick Chavez hit into a fielder’s choice. Aiden Hancock then singled and Matt DiNorcia followed with one of his own that scored Chavez.
The Trojans (13-7) tied it in the top of the fifth. Tyler Keegan walked to lead off the inning. His pinch-runner Eric Carney stole second and went to third on Christian Sanchez’s groundout. After a strikeout, Thomas Norman singled up the middle to score Carney.
