Lemon Bay Downs Oasis, 12-2
The Lemon Bay Manta Rays posted a 12-2 win over the Oasis Sharks on Wednesday night. After being shut-out through the first two innings, the Manta Rays proceeded to hang a crooked number on their hosts in all but one of the final five frames.
Leading the way for Lemon Bay was Jaryd Clary, who batted 2 -for-4 and drove home a pair of runs at the plate while also tossing four strong innings as the starting pitcher. Warnner Rincones and Trey Fields were also key contributors for the Rays, each tallying three runs and a hit.
After opposing starter Justin Brooks stifled Lemon Bay batters the first time through the order, Rincones and Clary set the scoring in motion in the top of the third. Rincones drew a one-out walk, advanced to second on an error then came around to score when Clary slapped a single into center field. Fields reached on a fielder’s choice in the next at-bat and scored on an error after stealing second base. Chase Schork did the same after working a free pass, giving the Manta Rays a 3-0 lead.
The Rays added three unearned runs in the fourth inning before Clary and Rincones teamed up with Jacob Treece to run the lead to 8-0 in the fifth. Treece earned a base-on-balls with one out, then moved to second on a ground-out by the next batter. Rincones and Clary followed with a pair of two-out, RBI singles.
The Sharks chalked up their only two runs of the night in the bottom half of the same inning, doing so without the benefit of a base hit. Dennis Talarico scored on a balk after reaching via a fielder’s choice and Chris Balder reached on one error and later scored on another.
A double by Ray’s pinch-hitter Matthew Molinari scored Schork in the sixth inning and Lemon Bay rounded out the scoring with three runs in the final frame, including an RBI double by Fields and a sacrifice fly by Schork.
